Calcium Replacement

Calcium replacement therapy has become all the rage recently with many different companies pushing pills, powders and drinks all touted as the best source for calcium replacement. The big question on everyone's mind, does calcium replacement really work?

The idea behind calcium replacement is that your body depletes calcium and in order to stay healthy calcium must has to come back. It has always been known that your body needs a certain amount of calcium in order to properly work.

If you do not get enough calcium it can lead to everything from osteoporosis to weight gain. In order to combat this problem in the past it has been advised that the average person drink the daily-required amount of milk each day. Depending on who you listen to this could be anywhere from a few glasses to a couple of gallons. You can also get the calcium you need each day from eating 23 pounds of spinach along with 17 pounds of broccoli.

Now most people do not want to drink a couple of gallons of milk or eat that many vegetables each day so they resort to some sort of calcium replacement therapy. Calcium replacement therapy is simply using some sort of a supplement, powder, pill or drink to replace the calcium your body is depleting each day.

Experts however are divided about whether calcium replacement therapy really works or not. Most experts agree that our bodies do become depleted of calcium and some sort of calcium replacement therapy is needed, but that is where the agreement stops.

The disagreement is over how much calcium replacement therapy is necessary. Are just the calcium supplements that you buy in the store okay or do you need to buy all those higher priced coral calcium products floating around?

The only good answer is to do your homework before you spend the money. Check with local doctor or pharmacist and ask them what the best product is for you. Also look at the claims of some of the higher priced products and see if you can locate a website or BLOG where people talk about the product and see what they are saying.

The bottom line is do not buy something that has not been researched and make sure you consult your doctor before you start any kind of calcium replacement therapy.
